SWOT - THE NEED TO BE OBJECTIVE
The
cry of the world is “I can do anything!” The angel of light will lie to
us whenever he can get a foothold!
I
can remember when I tried my hand at the magazine business.
At
the same time, I was going through Experiencing God for the first time.
While there were a whole bunch of circumstances that appeared that I was in the
Lord's will, I was just fooling myself with regard to timing. My new partner was
out of a job and obviously was anxious to get started. So I acquiesced and
started to go forward ahead of God's timing. I didn't objectively go through
SWOT.
SWOT
is a business school acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats. Whereas mangers can survive without understanding these four concerns,
they are indispensable information to a successful leader.
Jesus
was a SWOT guy. He knew who his strong people were, and he spent his time
building, teaching, and encouraging them. Jesus knew the weaknesses in
several of his disciples. He predicted that some would walk away. They did.
Let's
see what God's word has to say.
Luke
14:28
28 "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not
first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete
it?
Ps
1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he
meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its
fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
