Coach's Tip

  By Randal Walti

THE DAWN OF A NEW DAY.

A year ago, as I sat there across the street from our lot where our new home was taking shape and the walls were being framed, it reminded me of how a new business is formed as the entrepreneur unravels his vision. It all starts with a vision. A vision of what might be. Of what is possible. But often, something has to die before something new can flourish. For us, it was saying see you later to old friends and comrades who worked alongside us in the ministry for years. We are very grateful for all their hard work and encouragement . It was also a hard move away from family, notably our daughter and grandkids But we are very hopeful to be out and about visiting them more often. And thankful, God is opening new doors and new opportunities where we are now. So, some unfulfilled dreams and hopes we left behind. Yet, new dreams and hopes are being birthed

For the entrepreneur, from a human standpoint, a new vision often requires ceasing to work for his old boss before his new endeavor can blossom. He has to make a commitment to the new and let go of the old. Difficult choices must be made and sacrifice is required.

For the new believer, he likewise must let go of the old life and commit himself to a new life. As well, difficult choices, unlike any he has faced before, must be made and sacrifice is required. No believer ever made it into heaven with all his stuff. Keith Green, a great Christian songwriter and singer who died tragically in an airplane accident back in the 80's once said, "The believer usually realizes very quickly he must give up his wrongs, those are the things that are killing him. However, he does not so quickly realize he must also give up all his rights. What are you holding on to that you must let go of? Maybe it is not the wrongs that you must let go of but it is a sense of your rights. The Gospel paradox is that death to self brings life. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and you will be exalted. Lose your life for Christ's sake and you will find it. What practically are you willing to give up today so that Christ can be exalted in and through your life?

WHAT DOES GOD'S WORD HAVE TO SAY?

Gal 2:20-21 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

 John 10:10-12
I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly " I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
