Coach's Tip

  By Randal Walti

Surmounting the Insurmountable Step 7

Are you facing the insurmountable project. Like David and Goliath. David was just a young shepherd boy and Goliath was a giant  of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall. Last time we talked about in step 6 - RELY ON THE POWER OF GOD FOR  VICTORY - in overcoming insurmountable obstacles -  This time we will talk about the seventh and final step RECKON THE VICTORY. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, David slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and Goliath fell facedown on the ground.

After Judi and I had moved to Georgia, our Georgia grand children started visiting us rather regularly. While our daughter and her husband had both become believers at an early age, they weren't walking with the Lord. Since the grandkids would come over on the weekend, we would take them to church with us. To make a long story short, 2 & 1/2 years after our move to Georgia, our daughter and her husband were baptized in their local church and have been very active since. My son-in-law teaches Sunday school for his youngest son's age group.  God is good !

When faced with the insurmountable, the man of God

               1) RECALLS PAST VICTORIES.
               2)
REAFFIRMS PROPER MOTIVATION.
               3) REJECTS THE DISCOURAGEMENT OF OTHERS.
               4) RECOUNTS THE TRUE NATURE OF THE BATTLE.
               5) RESPONDS WITH A POSITIVE CONFESSION.
               6) RELIES ON THE POWER OF GOD FOR  VICTORY
               70 RECKONS THE VICTORY

God's Word reference: 1 Samuel 17 1- 58

What does God's Word have to say?

Prov 19:21
21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.
(NIV)

1st Chronicles 29:11&12 Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, Oh Lord, and this is your Kingdom. Riches and honor come from you, and you are the Ruler of all mankind. It is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength.
