Coach's Tip

  By Randal Walti

Surmounting the Insurmountable Step 6

Are you facing the insurmountable project. Like David and Goliath. David was just a young shepherd boy and Goliath was a giant  of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall. Last time we talked about in step 5 -  overcoming insurmountable obstacles - RESPOND WITH A POSITIVE CONFESSION This time we will talk about the sixth step -RELIES ON THE POWER OF GOD FOR  VICTORY . In preparation for battle, David relies on the power of God for his victory "This day the Lord will hand you over to me."  And he does.

Notice that he doesn't face Goliath with armor or any fancy weaponry. He just has a lowly slingshot. David faces Goliath with the power of God. The Philistines couldn't believe it. Here is the 9 foot Giant facing this lowly shepard boy. How about when you are facing the insurmountable? Are you really relying on the power of God or are you trying to work every angle.

I remember when Judi and I were thinking about moving to Georgia. One of our three children was living in Atlanta, and we felt drawn to move to Georgia for our grand children. While our daughter and her husband had both become believers at an early age, they weren't walking with the Lord. The move was rather substantial; Judi and I both had businesses that had to be disposed of and sell and buy our home. While Judi & I would let the evil one get us in a doubtful mood, I generally had a peace about it. I knew God was with us and we were in his will. We had to rely on the power of God. He had revealed his will for our lives in our Life Purpose Statement

When faced with the insurmountable, the man of God

               1) RECALLS PAST VICTORIES.
               2)
REAFFIRMS PROPER MOTIVATION.
               3) REJECTS THE DISCOURAGEMENT OF OTHERS.
               4) RECOUNTS THE TRUE NATURE OF THE BATTLE.
               5) RESPONDS WITH A POSITIVE CONFESSION.
               6) RELIES ON THE POWER OF GOD FOR  VICTORY

Next time we will talk about the final step in this seven step process.

God's Word reference: 1 Samuel 17 1- 58

What does God's Word have to say? 1st Chronicles 29:11&12

Everything in the heavens and earth is yours O'Lord and this is your Kingdom. Riches and honor come from you, and you are the Ruler of all mankind. It is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength.
